    3. Hi Wayneann, A suggestion, in case there is no-one on the list who can help directly. I thought you might like to explore the possibilility that a public library near you may have this same facility. The public libraries in Queensland have a subscription to the Ancestry "Library" files, that allows anyone who is a library member to walk in and access it from their local library's own computers. We can print out ANY available scanned Ancestry document for the cost of a photocopy. Regards, Wynnette. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wayneann" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 12, 2012 7:58 PM Subject: [AUS-QLD] James Fenelon Faithfull > Hello List, > I am asking for some help with this man, JAMES FENELON > FAITHFULL. 3. Re the Old Cemetery under what is now know as Suncorp Stadium. There is a full listing of people buried there set out In a Queensland Government about the middle of the 1910s, as the Government contacted known families for them to advise where the persons were to be moved to. It is understood that a lot went to the "new" Toowong/Brisbane General Cemetery" and others were taken to where the families requested. This list if also set out by Religion. I can't remember the exact date of the list but do recall seeing it, I know we had a copy from the Gazette at GSQ rooms but could not find it a while ago when I went looking for one of the members. Are these gazettes on line as I know we have them on our computers, and State Archives have films of the gazettes in their microform room where the computers and printers are located. 3. Not an answer to your question but a few more clues. In 1963, the electoral roll has this couple living at 367 Cavendish Road Coorparoo. In 1968, Harriett is there on her own (consistent with Alfred's death in 1967). I cannot find any subsequent entries for Harriett, so I am guessing she died within the next few years. I presume you have already checked the Brisbane City Council burials and the Nudgee Catholic burials (both online) and not found them in either of these? If so, the next step is to contact Mt Thompson Crematorium, as that is the most likely other option, given they are long-term Brisbane residents (making a burial outside of Brisbane unlikely) and they live on the southside (hence unlikely to have been cremated in the then new crematorium out at Albany Creek). http://www.mtthompsoncrem.com.au/driver.asp?page=/contact+us Kerry -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Laraine Sent: Sunday, 11 March 2012 7:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [AUS-QLD] Death of Harriett Jean Smith FARR Hello! 1. [AUS-QLD] Index to passengers on bounty ships
    2. Gloria Sheehan
    3. "Familysearch" now has a searchable index of the passengers on 'bounty ships' so as it's now possible to find on which ship a bounty passenger came then go to the NSW site and download the actual scans. However, the index is compiled from the index cards so if an error has occurred in transcribing from the lists to the cards, it will appear incorrectly in this index. For instance, I discovered that, in one instance, the surname INGS had been transcribed as FRYS. I contacted Familysearch to see if an alternate could be inserted, much as the same as one can do on Ancestry. They replied that, while they were working on such a programme, it was not yet available and directed me to the following: "At times, you may encounter errors made in the transcription of the Historical Records found at FamilySearch.org, or you may have additional knowledge about the person listed on the record. We get requests from patrons who want to make changes to the indexes. At the present time, FamilySearch does not have the programming in place to allow a user to make corrections or annotations on a record found in our Historical Records collections nor does it provide a way for a user to submit these errors so that someone internally can make the correction. However, FamilySearch understands the desire to improve upon the quality of the records. Please let us assure you that our Design Engineers are spending a "significant amount of time and resources in mapping out a system that would allow user corrections or annotation to a record," thus adding them to the searchable database. "We cannot yet announce a date when such a feature will be available, but it is on the road maps and drawing boards." Get Satisfaction posting by Robert Kehrer--Design engineer "Thoughts on correcting errors to the records" We suggest that if you see a need for a correction that you make note of it so that when this feature is in place, you will be able to help amend the records. We thank you for your patronage and patience as we continue making improvements to the site." Regardless it's still a great tool for locating those passengers who arrived in Australia between 1828 and 1842. Gloria ****

    2. Many thanks for all the replies to my posting for Henry Chambers and Thomas Henry Chambers Henry is my husbands gt grand father This Chambers family is the most frustrating genealogy I have ever done. There is so much false info all the way thru On the death cert of. Emma Watt (chambers) daughter of Henry and Jane Chambers her son was the informant and put her brother( Thomas Henry Chambers) down as her father and her mother down as Emma when it was Jane. this caused a problem for a start Next problem was , the marriage for Henry and Jane in 1838 The minister , Rev McGarvie has transposed the names and has Henry Chambers down as Henry Turner and Jane Turner as Jane Chambers and to make matters worse the first 3 children are baptised as Turners The good Rev was certainly confused The other Children are bapt as Chambers in another church by another minister On Jane Chambers death cert the children are all listed , , the same children !! Henry spent his last few years in the home for aged, infirm, and chronically sick on Stradbroke Island, on the admission register Henry has provided the following info admitted 20th oct 1877 aged 75 born Deptford Kent Eng Trade---- cabinetmaker Father--- George Mother--- Ann Spouse-----Jane Married Sydney aged 27 Children ---- Thomas aged 47, mary Jane 41 Emma 39 Maria 36, ( Ann had died by this time) and Sarah ? Mary Jane married a Mr Gaynor a saddler in Bundaburg sarah m Mr Rever of McKay, Emma m Watt of Warwick Maria m a German ( Trenkner) Ann m Kilcullen History Arrived in Tasmania 1833 on the ship Sir John Ray Reid" remained in Tas for 6 mths then went to Sydney and stayed 10yrs befor moving to Moreton Bay Worked as a cabiner maker and also had saw pits in George St Bris..Also was leasee of Brisbane River Ferry for 2 yrs. Worked past 2 yrs for Mr Dear, Herschell St Brisbane.. This info is what Henry has provided True or false ??? If Henry was a convict would he only stay in Tas for 6mths or is he fibbing And where is Thomas Henry? I hope someone can help unravel my family many thanks Julie

    3. Sue I seem to remember that there is a book at the State Archives listing some of the people buried at the old Milton Cemetery but not all possibly as they all did not have headstones> Colin -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sue Olsen Sent: Friday, 9 March 2012 2:54 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Thomas Henry chambers Hi Colin, yes well we have a list of people who died in Brisbane who we havent found buried anywhere else or some that we have confirmed using other sources. In order to confirm all of these we would have to order 10,000 death certificates. I am working on this slowly and have been for the past 15 years. One day... might have it all sorted!! Sue. 3. Sue the cemetery is under Suncorp Stadium (originally known as Lang Park) Milton Brisbane. Have you a listing showing who was buried there? Colin -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sue Olsen Sent: Friday, 9 March 2012 1:30 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] thomas henry chambers Good News Julie!!! I think I have found him!!! In Brisbane in the 1840s-1880s there was another series of cemeteries located under what is now a sporting stadium. We have on our index a Thomas Chambers that died in 1867. No parents listed on the death certificate. However on the funeral notice it mentions his procession leaving the home of a Mr Charles BIRD. Mary Jane Chambers Married a Charles BIRD in 1864. So looks interesting.. will let you know if I find anything else. Cheers Sue.
