Greg We have photographed all the headstones at Kandanga in Sept 2006. So unless you are looking for a later ones, just search here: http://www.chapelhill.homeip.net/FamilyHistory/Photos/index.htm note if you search for Smith Kandanga Then you will just get Kandanga burials and not all the Smith's in any cemetery. Note there were some notice boards in the cemetery showing burial locations. You can see the information transcribed from them here: http://www.chapelhill.homeip.net/FamilyHistory/Photos/Kandanga-Cooloola/Kand anga-burials.html which may provide information on folk without headstones. Dear Esma, Unless you find there is an "historical" certificate available, possibly at a lower price; to obtain a "Real" birth certificate, there is no other way than to apply to the registrar and pay the going price. The only exception I know of is Tasmania, where all BDM and baptism records prior to 1900 are deposited in the Archives and anyone can walk in and have them for the price of a photocopy. From 1900 onwards, you have to apply to the registrar and pay. All states including Queensland have very strict rules as to who can apply for certificates, as I have found to my disadvantage. If it is an "historical" certificate (and you have to check with the state concerned as to whether it fits into this catagory - it depends on the date), usually anyone can apply. If it is after the "historical" deadline, only the nearest living relative can apply. e.g., even my children could not apply for their deceased paternal grandmother's birth, death or 2nd marriage certificates, as their father is still alive. And Di is quite right, Elizabeth Emily Patterson had three children, including Carl, no father named. George 1807, Willie 1808 & Carl 1809. (Willie was under Emily Elizabeth.) The marrage to Harry Fumoto was in 1905 (but you may already know all of this). What you would get off the certificates is her age, where she lived, where the children were born and her occupation. Is there a researcher on the list who lives near Kandanga who would be willing to go to the cemetery and take some photographs of headstones for me please ? Greg
Hi Esma, Exactly what information are you looking for with the birth certificate? I think you'll find the way the birth is registered means that the mothers name was Elizabeth Emily Patterson and there was no father. In other words she was a single mum. I note that Carl also had a brother George. An Elizabeth Emily Patterson married a Japanese man named Harry Fumoto in 1905. Harry's real name appears to be Kentaro Fumoto. He was a launderer. Perhaps he and Emily were separated/divorced when the children were born. The Trove website has a few interesting mentions of Harry Fumoto. Cheers, Di
Hi Lists I would like to find a cheaper way to obtain a birth certificate for CARL PATTERSON he was registered 19 April 1909 Brisbane mother Elizabeth Emily father Patterson. Page no.20343 Reg.no.B019401. Your help greatly appreciated, Thank you Esma Ingram

I didn't realise you got the info from the online historical BDM's from Qld Archives as I was well aware of that resource.
