Thanks for your reply i have a just got a hint for my Mclean ancestor he was suppose to have been working near the Dawson river Central Qld so i take that to mean around Taroom in 1901-1902 which is when Kidman came through buying cattle he hired Archie mcLean to take the mob back. So i am looking for any Mcleans in that area his father and mother are unknown but his children's names include Archibald, Neil, Duncan so i am desperately trying to narrow my search all i have is on children's births, list Rockhampton and Gladstone area. He was born around 1873-1874 He has a few things written about him in trove one written in the" Worker" brisbane 30th sept 1905 "An Australian Bullfighter" Country paper are spinning about a stockman names Archie McLean "who when charged by a bullock, jumps off his horse, walks up to the irate beast, which is throwing the dust up his back in challenge. When a few yards from the beast McLean just waits until he charges, as the beast rushes him he steeps slightly to the right grasps the near horn, throws his weight into the beasts shoulder, the beast becomes alarmed, and starts to canter off. He then gets hold of the near fore leg and throws the beast in his stride. Archie then steps nimbly over the bullock and pulls the rear fore foot over his horn The rest is merely detail" So any help to find him would be great.. The hint i got came from an interview one other Kidman mangers gave, stating Archie had come from the Dawson river area central Qld. Through his first drive for Kidman was from Rockland downs N.T. To S.A. many thanks Julie Mclean -----Original Message----- From: julie dern Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2012 11:33 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Help with Taroom area I have been watching the replies for your original query on D. No are there any buried in the Taroom Cemetery.

Yes, as Estelle mentioned Terrick Terrick is a long way from Taroom, approx. 40 miles south west of Blackall. My husband grew up on this property. Cheers, Jules. Hi Margaret, According to the 1900 electoral Roll. Fred CATLING was residing at Ripple Creek in the division of Ingham in the district of Herbert. He was 30 years of Age. His occupation was a labourer. Date recieved by registrar 14th November 1898. The Foulger's were indeed living in Cairns more specifically Aloomba. According to the electoral registrar they moved to cairns in 1906. Prior to that Rowland FOULGER was living in Monah Farm in the district of Halifax. I hope this helps Cheers Sue. Good Evening Listers, I'm interested to trying to find out where my grandfather Theodore aka Ben Hall worked. When his father died in 1900 he went jackarooing in Northern Queensland and I was wondering would the Queensland State Electoral Rolls be held in the State Library of NSW. Hello Kay & Kerry,Terrick Terrick is quite a long way from Taroom. But your man could have been part of the large itinerant work force (sometimes as shearers, shepherds, drovers or stockmen) that worked properties such as Terrick Terrick in those times. There would have also been large properties requiring many hands in the Taroom area.Estelle > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Sat, 12 May 2012 17:59:57 +1000 > Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Help with Taroom area > > On the 1900 Queensland State Electoral Roll (from archive CD books) there is > a David McLean aged 59 address Terrick Terrick occupation station employee > Date when claim received by Electoral Registrar 4th April 1898. > > Regards > > Kerry (Young) > > > > > Please remember to snip most of the earlier message before you post any reply...... hi can anyone help me with post office directories etc for 1880-1901 in taroom area. I am looking for McLean Families I know there is a Deceased estate for a D. McLean in Taroom his date of death was 16/01/1902 Duty paid 29/5/1902. I have been searching for our unclaimed McLean for about 10 years and due to some newspapers being transcribed at Trove i now have a link to Dawson River central Qld so that is around Taroom i believe so if anyone can help or put me in touch with a researcher i would appreciate it. yours, kind regards Julie McLean
I got it from TROVE in SMH so think it was transcription error, I have been looking around and now think it may have been Isla Downs, found that on Google Thank you for taking the time to look for me, much appreciated. Lynne Hi Lynne, What's the source? Any chance of a mis-transcription? Could it be Isabel Downs (near Julia Creek) or something similar? Cheers, Deb
Can someone please tell me where "Isber Downs" would have been in 1914, I have a death there. Tried Google. Thanks Lynne

Good Morning Listers, I would like to thank everyone who replied to my message concerning the box of Korean War memorabilia. I have contacted those who may be able to help. Fingers crossed it all works out well. Sincerely, Christine
Hello Christine. Although I have no connections to the found Korean War Memorabilia, I am interested in the outcome. Would you therefore let us all know what happened? I'm sure there must be many of us on this Australian rootsweb site, earthwide, who would be as interested as I am. Thank you and kind regards. April. From a very damp New Forest in the UK
