    3. Hello Greg Ellen KEOGH (born 1818 Donohill, Tipperary, Ireland), married in 1836 in Donohill, Tipperary, Ireland, to John MADDEN (born 1919 Tipperary). They migrated on the "ARGYLE" in 1852 with the following children: - Mary (1835-1923) married Charles GILL - Bridget (1837-1914) married Martin CARMODY - Thomas (1844-1928) - Michael (1850-1932) married Mary Elizabeth FANNING - Ellen born 1853 in Qld, christened 11Jan1854 at St Marys Parish, Ipswich. John MADDEN's father was also John MADDEN and his mother was Ellen DWYER. Another brother, Thomas also migrated to Australia on the "FLORENTIA" in 1853 and he married Mary SLATTERY. They had at least 7 children. NOW, I know a lot on this family, I have common relatives with their descendants. I know nothing on young Ellen, but would be interested in knowing what happened to her. My interest lies in the fact that my MADDEN family migrated in 1863 and settled in the same district as these brothers, and their children had common names, like Michael and John..... Also, descendants of this MADDEN family married descendants of my MADDEN family... Thanks Hope this is useful Lorrae J Glenore Grove Qld 4342 http://www.lorrae.net/ -----Original Message----- From: Greg [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, 22 May 2012 8:03 AM To: AUS-Qld Subject: [AUS-QLD] Ellen MADDEN I am looking for any information about Ellen MADDEN, baptised 25/7/1853 (Probably in Brisbane), daughter of John MADDEN and Ellen KEOGH. 3. Hello Kerry and Jenelle, Many thanks, that was quick.  Good to see that he was living in the Mackay area.  Yes I have contacted the Mackay Council to see if he was buried in one of their cemeteries, however I have not had a reply as yet.  Unfortunately Michael Burrowes doesnt appear on the online website which lists headstone inscriptions/photos. I appreciate all your help. 3. Hello I am having problems trying to find out the whereabouts of Michael Bodel BURROWES who was born in Dromore Co.Down, Ireland 1848c and died Queensland 1901. I have detailed information on all his siblings, however Michael remains elusive.  I cannot find his immigration details ( VIC NSW or QLD) or any articles on TROVE, but did locate on the Queensland Archives website three Mackay hospital admissions 1892 - 1894.  Am hoping that someone with access to 1900 Queensland State Electoral Roll may be able to locate him and help me pinpoint where he may be buried. Many thanks for any assistance bye Helen

    3. Hello Greg, There is a Mary MADDEN birth in NSW in 1853 for this same couple. Maybe this Mary, and Ellen are the one and same person. I can have a look at the actual film for you tomorrow which should give full date of birth and date of baptism, and should also give the father's occupation and where they were living at the time. I suggest that you look at a map and follow the Dawson from its headwaters - it is a very long river - and the phrase "on the Dawson" that was used back in the day, covered a lot of properties (and still does, but the properties are smaller). I know of an ancestor who was known to be at "'Boxvale' on the Dawson", and we were merrily going along thinking that it was closer to Rocky, when in fact, "Boxvale" is between Springsure and Injune. Of course, it too, was a much bigger property in the 1800s than now. Kidman had a string of properties that were basically linked by watering points for his stock movements. His history is well-documented, so you may get some leads researching Kidman.Regards Estelle > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Date: Wed, 16 May 2012 12:31:01 +1000 > Subject: Re: [AUS-QLD] Help with Taroom area > > Hi Julie, > > It looks as though this could be your Archie - > > NSW BDM > Reg. 14523/1876 McLEAN ARCHIBALD CAMERON > Father's Given Name - Neil > Mother's Given Name - Harriet > Registered at MANNING RIVER > > If you want a copy of the registration, don't buy from NSW BDM.
