Cant find any further RAAF ref at the NAA . Probably his record was later than the NAA list on line In the 1977 & 1980 roll a John Francis WILSON was a manager at the Balmoral Hotel Pt Curtis Rd + a Joan WILSON John Francis is probably a son but ................ cant prove it The Rocky Morning Bully newspaper is in http://www.ryersonindex.org/ BUT this site is off line tonight . Unsure if indexing of this newspaper goes back to the early 1990's ? bye MargM Qld List Admin
Hello, Would any one in Rockhampton or Queensland be able to do some look ups for me please. I’m looking for the CHILDREN of HENRY ERNEST WILSON and DORIS MABEL nee Busch. Henry and Doris were married in 1933 at Rockhampton, so they would be born after that I would think. Also can SKS look up the DEATH NOTICES in the Rockhampton newspapers for me in the hope that the children would be listed there. Henry died in 3 Oct 1990 and Doris died 27 May 1991. I have sent an email to the editor of the Rockhampton morning bulletin but have had no response from them. Hoping to find some of these children. Regards Jocelyn Graham
Hi I'm originally from the north of the state and can confirm that burials were carried out as quickly as possible after the death except in exceptional circumstances due to limited refrigeration and the lack of a morgue in some places. Have several deaths/burials in my family to attest to this. Jocelyn formerly of Home Hill, Nth Qld notice you state he was buried the day after he died, not sure was that the norm? Seems very quick. Regards Helen
Lorrae, What a blow. Isn't that always the way. You can locate & account for everyone in a family, but one just has to make things that little more difficult. Nothing at all in the indexes for a marriage for a girl with any variation on Ellen. Wonder if she went interstate. Cheers, Jules. Warren, NSW (but always a Queensland (Bundy) girl). Hi there Helen, I have plenty of deaths and burials in Qld from around those times and a burial the next day was very common. You have to remember that this was a time when refrigeration was almost non-existent in most places, and replacement of blood with embalming fluids for a body was probably very expensive. Also the death is in hot Qld. So a next-day burial was not unusual, but often essential. -- Stephen Nicholson (Wollongong) On 24 May 2012, at 8:24 AM, Helen Galea wrote: > Hello Julie, > > Many thanks for the additional burial information for Michael Bodel > BURROWES.
