    3. The cemeteries of the Gold Coast aren't generally available on-line, but another researcher told me that an email to the council provided them with the burial information they were looking for, so I would suggest starting with that. However, the Council will not be able to help if the person was buried or cremated in a non-Council cemetery. I have checked our website of headstone photos and there are no BOWES in them. The other thing to bear in mind with popular retirement locations like the Gold Coast is whether the people were long-time residents or more recent arrivals (e.g. many retirees). Recent arrivals are often buried/cremated back in their home towns, because there are more folk there wanting to attend the funeral, or a desire to be buried with other family members, etc. So check for a home town burial if the BOWES were not long-term residents. 2. Annette Piper
    3. I have started to research my McDougall line and would welcome any information on the family. Here are the details I have to date: John McDougall and Frances Elizabeth (nee McDonald) came from Scotland, possibly Glasgow. Settled in the Beaudesert area as farmers. Two sons born in Australia - Hugh Thomas b.1867 and Francis Ronald (Frank) McDougall b. 1873 (my g-grandfather), so I assume John and Frances came to Australia in the mid 1860s. Frances' death is recorded in 1887 and it is likely that the John McDougall who died in 1888 - notated born Scotland aged 54 - is probably the record since it gives no further information on his family! Frank McDougall married Elizabeth Rachel Summerville in 1905 and they had three children - Douglas (m. Florence May Pope 1935) (my grandparents) , Mabel Emily (m. Francis Hayes) (brought up believing they were my grandparents... yes there is a story there!) and Grace Elizabeth (m. William Rogers 1935). Frank McDougall moved to the Oxley River area and had a dairy farm encompassing (according to family stories!) most of Chelmer and Graceville. Thanks in advance Annette

    3. Hello fellow researchers I thought I would email and let you know that Charlton Solutions now offers "look ups" for fellow researchers at QLD based repositories. Each month, I visit the various repositories eg. QLD State Archives, QLD State Library and the QLD Family History Society. If there is any need you have for your yourself or your clients, I am happy to do these lookups for you at a reduced rate. I can copy the details, photograph or save the file to USB and transfer the information to you. Each of these facilities has a great website which details what records are available. You can determine if there are any files which may be worth pursuing eg. immigration records, PO records, newspapers or the various indexes. You can see on my website www.charltonsolutions.com.au the dates available. Simply go to the contact us page and send me your details. I will send you the research I undertook and an invoice after this date. I hope this helps some people who simply cannot get the records they require. Regards, Marnie
