    3. Thanks Jan & Janet James WALKER & Alma Alice WEBB had another son, Stanley Charles WALKER, born 10 July 1918 in Rockhampton. He married Lillian Fern BAKER on 26 February 1944 in Rockhampton. Lillian is a 2xgreat-grand-daughter of William BAKER, who arrived as a 14 year old convict on the Neptune in 1790 (second fleet). They may have sent out their convicts in chains to the old Sydney Cove, and it was an extremely hard life for them all, especially the first years in the colony, but the ones who did survive, prospered and populated this country. I have been keeping the Register for the descendants of William Baker, and we have recorded 9 generations, with 11,441 direct descendants plus numerous spouses. 3. On a lighter note, I can recall a bunch on R.N. sailors attending a dance in the small country town where I lived, about 100 miles from Brisbane, in the latter years of W.W.II. They behaved in the typical manner of all "Sailors On Leave", and a good time was had by all. Their favourite comment was "He's crackers! He's daft.", - which became the favourite catchword for all of us for several weeks afterwards. The name of their ship is nestling somewhere in my grey matter, - if it surfaces, I'll send another message. It has come to light now that the Sailor was his half brother by his Father who was stationed in England during WW1.......... which explains why he did the long journey on short leave..... My Cousin is getting on a bit now and would like to see if this Sailor had any Family in England...he has a name and approximate date of birth which would put him in his 90's ..... he even has a photo of him I have tried the site for Royal Navy Crews... but it only goes up to 1923...in doing so I found my own Grandfathers records....as he joined in 1909 which was a bonus. Does anyone know if there would be a site for England.....like our National Archives site that lists all Australian Servicemen....... If I could find the ships that docked in Brisbane it may narrow down my search. Any suggestions would be appreciated. cheers Jan Please remember to snip most of the earlier message before you post any reply......
