Is anyone else having problems with this Site....... Cheers, Val.
Hi Jenelle, Yes, checked BDM, online, but not ask a librarian, as yet, just been looking around for quite awhile at sites, checked NSW BDM also, not Vic. though. He doesn't come up on Ancestry at all.. Cheers, Jill
Have you checked the bdm on line or ask a librarian for burial, Mareeba Cemetery on line... He is on E. Rolls from 1930 till 1980, in 1980 he lived at 68, Walsh St., Mareeba, and has no occupation against his name....he is too old to work, of course.!! His wife Florence May is living with him. He was a Miner at Mt. Carbine in earlier electoral rolls, and I've found a couple of references to him and mining leases on Trove. (It's possible that he died before 1980 and wasn't taken off the E.Roll I suppose) ? One Ancestry Tree has him dying 17th June, but no year given. He was b. Victoria 1892, to David and Elizabeth Ann Bradley, and married Florence May Sands in Queensland in 1920. Florence died in 1983, in Mareeba. Any help will be very much appreciated, I'm helping a S.I.Law trace her extensive family, Ernest would be her Uncle. I have searched cemetries in the area without success, as far as I can see, they aren't buried in Mareeba. 1903: BALL ,William George ,M ,Ernest street ,labourer ,Brisbane South ,Oxley BALL ,William Nicholas Gidley ,M ,Ernest street ,foreman ,Brisbane South ,Oxley But remember that voting was not compulsory at that time (that happens in 1924) and women had only just got the vote in 1903 so Barbara didn't have to be on the electoral roll if she wasn't interested. Thank you! The funeral notice says "The friends of Mrs. J. MASSEY". It doesn't say Emily. The last of the notices in the newspaper about Emily's drunkenness and other bad behaviour appears in 1880 and in the same year James and a woman named Mary Elizabeth HAIR start having children, six in total and all but one are registered under both HAIR and MASSEY. I believe that Mary Elizabeth HAIR also had a few other children under other names in 1800s and she died in 1941 I think that when the funeral notice says "The friends of Mrs. J. MASSEY" it is referring to Mary HAIR Greg
