    1. [PJ] Samuel Collins
    2. Thank you all so very much for all the response and welcome suggestions. I know this is not a unique event for all who enjoy this addictive pastime, but I have followed up many of your suggestions which has raised other Samuel Collins’ I was not aware of. For brevity I was aware of the following voyages to Van Diemans Land- Marion (with 2 on board), John Calvin and the Siren and I have found that there is another Samuel who left there in 1850 after arriving in the “Waverley” ( no record of him ever being on board). For voyages to Port Jackson, I know of the “Norfolk” and “Marquis of Huntley” and I am aware from a previous response from Lesley that the Samuel on the “Marquis” died a few years after arrival and there is a voyage to Newcastle of the “Neptune” in 1853 which also carried a Samuel Collins. When I revisited the Gaol records which started this thread, I have also found yet another Samuel Collins who also entered the gaol in March 1866, was a Jew but was 50 years old and arrived on the “William”- unfortunately I cannot find a Samuel on the “Castle Forbes”. Sorry to impose this on the forum but all suggestions will be greatly accepted and I will seek assistance from the Library of Tasmania for the fate etc. of the VDL names- thank you all Regards Geoff Collins
