I am attempting to learn more about Elizabeth Gray , sister in law of Ann Single. Both convicted in Cambridgheshire and transported on the 'Sydney Cove in 1807. Elizabeth was pregnant when convicted. I notice in Col Sec's Papers that she received her Cert of Freedom in 1813 and was struck off the victualling list then. Also. Is anyone researching This woman, and is the Hannah , mentioned in the Col Sec's papers Elizabeth's daughter? If I sent for all the papers relating to Hannah, would they provide relative information about what was happening in Elizabeth's life. Gloria
Hi Gloria I am not so sure that they are related. There was a Hannah Gray born to John and Elizabeth Gray in 1813 in NSW who looks more likely to have been sent to the Female Orphan Institution in 1819. In the 1828 NSW Cenus Hannah is listed as being 16 years of age, born in colony, and employed as a servant to William Bruce in Pitt Street.
