Dear Lesley, Thank you so much for replying to my message. I have done years of research into my GG Grandmother Jane Delahunt. I have her emigration papers to Australia aboard "China" Sept 1841, with some of her siblings and brother-in-law. Her mother arrived in Australia in 1848. It was her mother who was the informant on her death certificate in 2/11/1859. She died in childbirth. I have also met a descendant of one of her sisters who came from NZ to meet me a year ago, and she had the family Bible. In it Was where Jane Came from, Caven,Caven County, Ireland So I know that the Jane Delahunt I have named is my GG Grandmother, but now I am wondering if she came here in 1833, served her time and then went home and straight away managed to get on the ship with her sisters and came back? I can't find a record of her leaving. One thing that concerns me about Jane is that she is listed in the Indexes as having been at The Female Factory in 1838 with a 3 year old child, Thomas, born at the factory. I can find no births or anything about him other than that, and there are no other Thomas's in her ?2nd family. I live in Victoria and I am going to see my son at the end of the month who llves in Sydney, so I will have to go to the Archives and see what information they have about her whe she was at the factory. Once again thank you for your interest. Regards, Ros.
