    3. Hello Gerry I was wondering if you could indulge one more Australian who has Irish ancestors. I know that you have had lots of requests so I will understand if you can't help me out. Two of my ggg grandfathers were transported to NSW. 1. Andrew Glannon tried 14th August 1837 or maybe 15th August 1837 at Dublin City (Assizes I think) - name is sometimes spelt as Glennan/Glannan and other variations perhaps even McGlannon??? Andrew stole two lambs and had a former conviction of 2 mths for something unknown. He was transported for 7 yrs. 2. Michael Moran tried 11th March 1828 Mullingar Westmeath. Michael was a Whiteboy rebel and was convicted for "appearing armed"-his sentence was transportation for life. There were five others on his ship convicted at Mullingar Westmeath in 1828. Perhaps they were tried as a group perhaps making it more likely to make the newspapers. On the same ship the Fergusson 1829 there were also four from Cavan County and one from Dublin convicted as Whiteboys. Crimes of all these men ranged from "appearing armed" to "burning house"...both crimes attracting life sentences. Only one Whiteboy received a lesser sentence for the crime of "unlawful pledging." All were tried 1828. Thank you for your generosity for offering to help others. If there is anything I can look up for you here in NSW please let me know. >I have on-line access to the Freemans Journal through my college, Dublin > City University Best Regards on a misty and cool evening in the Blue Mountains near Sydney NSW. Rhonda
