Hi Lesley and others I notice the use of the word "lumber" in our communications to refer to the timber mills where trees were sawn into useable pieces of timber and the product produced as lumber. Lumber certainly is a term used in the US and Canada and the feller of trees or a worker in timber as a lumberman or lumberjack. I ask was the term "lumber" also commonly used in PJ in those early days of the colony or was timber more the normally used description.
