    3. Hi there cousin Betty! This particular William Bowman was described as a farmer of Eastern Creek/Richmond. He had at least two convicts in his service in 1831 according to his deposition. He was apparently not a popular man with his convict servants. His deposition describes two of them, Mary Ann Silk and Henry Myatt, leaving his property with the intention to go to court to be removed from his service. My ancestor Edward Ewer, a grocer in Parramatta, was where they fled to, and he offered to pay for the legal fees. cheers, matt ----------------------------- > > Message: 3 > Date: Sat, 14 Feb 2009 12:52:14 +1100 > From: "Betty Candy" <bjcandy@bigpond.com> > Subject: Re: [PJ] When did convict administration end? > To: <aus-pt-jackson-convicts@rootsweb.com> > Message-ID: <B114C450D91146838662071F8388EB73@sydney> > Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; > reply-type=original > > G'day Matt > I have much info on one William Bowman, a non-convict. 3. Dear Matt Two Bowman brothers, William and John, came to Australia from Scotland. John is the Richmond one. He had a son called William, as did William. My Bowman is William, son of William. William Junior married Elizabeth Hutchinson and hence my interest. There is heaps about the Richmond Bowmans online including the Bowman Flag. Have a look. Did the Victorian bushfires get much coverage?
