Hi Margaret It is a bit difficult with the information you have provided so far. I had a quick look and this is what I have found so far .... and some of it may be incorrect (meaning wrong family) A Sarah Heyward was born to Michael and Sarah in 1852. I found a Michael Hayward married to Sarah Ellison in 1844 in Sydney. They also had other children who *may* have included the following Henry in 1846 Reuben in 1847 Ann in 1850 Sarah in 1852 Mary A in 1856 - Parramatta Miram S T in 1858 - Parramatta Reuben in 1860 - Parramatta Sarah Ada Heyward married Charles Newman Child in 1880 in Grafton, They had: Alice Child in 1883, registered Ulmarra Florence Child in 1885, registered Maclean Charles N Child in 1886, registered Ulmarra George R Child in 1888, registered Ulmarra Mabel M Child in 1892, registered Ulmarra The only Emma E Child I can find is the one born in 1891, registered Maclean, to a ** George and Ellen** Charles Newman Child died 1891. In 1894 Ada married James Langan in Grafton. Sarah Ada died as Ada Langan in 1900 and her parents given names were Michael and Sarah There was a convict by the name of Michael Haywood who arrived in 1827 on the "Marquis of Hastings" aged 24 on arrival. I think that he is incorrectly named in the 1828 NSW Census as Richard. There were two Sarah Ellisons (Allison) born in the colony who may fit. Sarah born in 1828 to John and Isabella (Isabella was a convict - not sure about John) Sarah born in 1819 to John and Sarah (both convicts) Regards Lesley Uebel mailto:ckennedy@bigpond.net.au CLAIM A CONVICT http://users.bigpond.net.au/convicts/index.html -----Original Message----- From: aus-pt-jackson-convicts-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-pt-jackson-convicts-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Margaret Stantiall Sent: Friday, January 02, 2009 9:23 AM To: AUS-PT-JACKSON-CONVICTS@rootsweb.com Subject: [PJ] Ancestor Michael ? Hello List. I am new to your list and hope some kind person will be able to sort my problem out. My Australian in-laws were early arrivals , at least the male was , I only know his first name was Michael, he arrived in NSW , and later married a convict lady with a child, according to research by a descendant of theirs. I cannot find the research that was made , I suspect it was lent to a NZ relation and Lost . I do know and have proof that my husband's grandmother , Sarah Ada Haywood born in NSW , died , 1891 , was the widow of Charles Newman Child when she remarried, on Woodford Island ( Clarence River) where my mother-in - law was born , she was Emma Eliza Child, one of six or more children of Ada's as she was known. Charles was born in Uk and came to NSW with his parents, also Charles Newman Child and Emma (Hazelwood) and possibly other family. There were two or three children from the second marriage , and one of these had compiled a list of family names after a lot of research.. The children from the first marriage did not live with Ada after she remarried , my mother-in- law came to NZ when she was young with a sister who also married here, according to family others stayed in Australia , but kept in touch and some visited relations. I know this is very vague but I hope some one may be able to sort it out. , I will be very grateful . Thank you for any leads. Margaret in NZ.
