Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions. Nottingham does have the records, but it looks like I will have to pay someone to look them up. Some of the other court assizes records are on line, and I hope that these might be too. I'm off on holidays for six weeks tomorrow, so no opportunity to follow up all your kind suggestions till I get back, but many thanks for your help.
