Hello everyone, I have recently been trawling through these films at the Mitchell Library and it would appear that there are at least three separate sets of records. Many of these events will be found recorded in the BDMs two and three times and then some not at all. This might be because of misinterpretation of the hand writing. While searching through these records I have found the names of witnesses, conflicting dates and in some cases with the marriage records showing both parties were men!! I know that is not possible for the 1820s onwards, so obviously mistakes have been made recording all parties including the witnesses. Could it be possible for a group of researchers to group together and collate all these films into one data base? What would be the copyright limits? Would we need to obtain permission and who from? These records are now in the public domain but extremely frustrating to use. Anyone prepared to participate? Cheers Suzanne Voytas
