Time Travel – Patrick Hoyle (Hall) and Hannah Garden/Gardiner What a wonderful concept. I like the idea of being invisible to observe them in their daily routines. I would ask Patrick what was the number of the dwelling place in York St Sydney he and Hannah lived in at the time of his death in 1840. How did he come to steal the calico that he was transported for. Was it on impulse or premeditated and did he have a basketmaking shop on the site of the old Anthony Hordens building prior to his death as verbal history goes down through the generations. Hannah I would tell her that I have a copy of the trial that took place at Aberdeen Scotland and that I had travelled on the roads that she and her relatives had roamed the countryside stealing clothes but I would add that if at the time they could have afforded a good lawyer they may have been acquitted as I’m sure they couldn’t possibly have stolen all of the garments mentioned in the trial papers. As a mutual descendant remarked to me with much merriment that the little gang were modern day backpackers who took home too many souvenirs. I would like to ask Hannah about the Glannons. I would also ask them to forgive me for being such a grave digger of their little secrets but tell them for the past so many years I’ve had one wonderful ride and learned so much. Patrick Hoyle (Hall) Isabella arriving 9/3/1822 and Hannah Garden/Gardiner Earl of Liverpool 5/4/1831. Birthday congratulations Lesley and thanks for a wonderful mailing list. Maureen O’Connor
