Rhonda just to add my 2 cents worth, petitions on Irish convicts were made usually by their families, not only for married men, sometimes mothers for sons etc. & not all married men, some women didn't want them back. If you go to the Irish transportation database and find your convict listed you might also see a reference no. if there is a petition this will have the letters PPC & a number. These petitions & other documents referring to family reunions have been filmed & are available in the State Library Sydney, family history section, you have to be lucky. The best other source on irish convicts is in the Irish newspapers which sometimes gave detailed accounts of trials Robyn Hardie On Friday, January 30, 2009, at 04:02 PM, Rhonda Flowers wrote: > Hello Kitty > > I was interested in part of your recent email (excerpt below). Thank you Robyn I will go back to the Irish transportation database and check out my Irish convicts although I don't think I will be one of the lucky ones as I don't recall seeing any letters other than TR against their names. ....but thanks for the information....its amazing how many valuable research pointers are freely shared on the PJ list!
