When I had a look at Cavan Station - interesting to note that Lachlan Murdoch married Sarah O'Hare on the property assuming this is the same place some 25 kms from Yass. I went on the Gundaroo site but all of the people researching the DAVIS families of Gundaroo seemed to have changed their contact email addresses so not having much luck there. Hi Kath & Pat, I know it is way off topic but it may be of interest to know that Rupert Murdoch's sister is the current owner Cavan Station near Yass. It is probably the most private site in Oz for the Murdochs and that is probably the reason that Lachlan choose that site for his wedding. Rupert quite often flies into Canberra in his personal Airbus A340 to visit with his sister. Better go now before Leslie jumps on me with both feet. Yes Pat, we have no record of any George Porter, that is not to say there was not one.Our grt, grt gran was born on " CAVAN in 1843 and lived till 1933 with our family in her late years hence left ever so much family history never any mention her mother & father were convicts, her father was George Potter. great gran married and raised 13 children in the came district. I will send you the name of the Davis connection off line and although you may not be related my guess is they will know and will help.
