Liz and Listers Thanks for your response. I don't have any known Marsh relatives in Australia. My Marsh relatives were in Essex and are connected with my convict John Hawkes from the other side. My Marsh line married a Holgate who in turn married a Mott. The Mott and Hawkes line joined together with John Hawkes and Mary Ann Davis's eldest daughter married Frederick Mott from Essex in 1869 in Young NSW. Interesting you mention Ben Hall the Bushranger. Another of my convicts (married a Mott) John Jobson held up Grogan Station whilst Frederick Mott was working there. John Jobson was his son in law. Sounds very interesting. I have wondered whether John Hawkes got involved in some robberies etc. I found some articles in the Parramatta Chronicle - a John Hawkes appearing at Berrima court in 1844. My other convicts are Thornborough and Salter. If anyone has anything that matches to any of the above it would be most appreciated.
