HI Elizabeth Many thanks for all your efforts. As far as i know there is two (only) different Susan or Susannah ROBERTS who came over on the Glatton in 1803. One was tried in Middlesex the other in Stafford. One was a Roberts by marriage (this one was Irish) and she left her husband back in London. So I'm trying to sort these two girls out What I have been trying to discover is if Susannah Roberts is my ancestor William BYRNES mother. So I have Michael BYRNE/BURN per Minerva arrived 1800 seems he was living with?? Susannah Roberts and from what you are saying Susannah has two sons in 1806. I will have to find out what month the census was taken. 1800-1802 Muster BURNE Michael S Time of Victualling 01 Jan 1802 In the 1822 Census there is a Michael Burne 16 BC Apprentice to Shaughnessey. William Burne 16 BC Servant Mr. BURNE Sydney. So this maybe twin sons to Michael and Susannah, but I just can't get a clear picture of this. I have in 1828's census my William living with his wife Nanno/Ann in Airds/Campbelltown two children Susannah and Michael and Also Williams brother Michael same age. So the boys are still together there. The below refers to either the Paracensus or Baptisms 1788-1828 held at the National library On another index I did find what might be the births of Michal and William. I guess the page was too damaged or writing to hard to read but it has. BURN............Father Michael Mother Susan ROBETTS BURN............Father Michael Mother Susan ROBERTS I doubt they were married as in another section I think in this "Old Register: one to nine: the registers of assignments and other legal instruments (NSW)" Michael is mentioned quite a few times, mainly to do with houses on Pitt/King Sts, but there is '1810 From Susan ROBERTS to Michael BYRNE- to realease all future claims on him.' So as you can see this Susannah Roberts/Byrne/Rogers is all over the place. I don't know which name she ended up with though. From what I can see it does seem that there is a good chance that Susannah is my William Byrnes mother, not conclusive though. I still can't quite work out the 1806 Census though where it say's BURN Michael S DO669 and then when you go to the page referred to it say's "Child abouve 2 years on Stores". So hard to work all this out really isn't it. That's enough of me waffling on anyway thanks for your help and time Elizabeth. Kind regards Dianna
