Hi all .. I am wondering if someone could help me please ? Edward Million / MELLON.. Vessel: Atlantic, William and Ann, Britannia, Matilda, Salamander, Albemarle, Mary Ann, Barrington, Active Fleet: Third Convicted Date: 13 Jan 1790 Voyage Date: Jan 1791 Colony: New South Wales Place of Conviction: Middlesex, England .. AND .. Mary SMITH.. Vessel: Nile, Minorca, Canada Convicted Date: 12 Jan 1801 Voyage Date: Jun 1801 Colony: New South Wales Place of Conviction: Southampton, Hampshire, England I am trying to find out why there would be a Register of convicts applications to marry for Edward Millen/Mellon and Mary Smith 1 Nov 1838 ... only problem is .. they had been living together since 1802 and had children 1802 and 1809 ... he left her in 1810 and went back to England .. (so I've been told) and Mary was alone after that. So why would there be an application to marry in 1838, and had Mary Smith received her ticket of leave before then ? regards, Maree Larsen Hobart
Hi Maree I cannot find a permission to marry for this couple. Do you mean the record that states Mary Smith who applied to marry Edward Miller in 1838??? This Mary Smith arrived on the Buffalo and Edward Miller was born in the colony.
