Hello Lesley, I wonder if you can help me please. In the NSW BDM there is an entry for a birth namely V18299535 1C1829 and V1829108 13/1829 for a Mary Ann Dower whose parents were John Dower and Sarah (Newham). However in the 1828 there is a William Colley aged 30, and a Sarah (19) and a Mary Ann (2). Underneath Sarah's name (from William Colley in ancestry.com.au) it has Dower. The question being is the date shown on NSW BDM a birth date for if it is then Mary Ann was born after the 1828 Census making it not my Mary Ann. Maybe the NSW BDM dates are dates of registration. If this is so then this is more than likely my Mary Ann. Any help you may be able to assist me with would be freatly appreciated. Pam.Sydney
Hi Pam 1829 is the year she was baptised - not necessarily the year she was born.
