Hi, I have a query which I hope someone may be able to help me with. My ancestor John Pheasant was freed by serviture on 21 December 1847 but I also found an article in a the Colonial Times aying he had been given a Ticket of Leave on 24th May 1842 on the occasion of the anniversary of the birthday of Queen Victoria. I wondered how these two events could relate to each other. I would be grateful for any help at all. Thank you. June
