Alice, From what I can gather St Helena Island (Qld) became a prison in the mid 1860s. We did have some convicts arrive who were tried at St. Helena (British colony - Altantic Ocean) although I can find no one with the name of Contest. I have a man, presumably a convict, called CONTEST who says he was born St Helens. I started research at St Helens in Indian Ocean where Napolean was imprisoned. It was difficult though at this distance and considering my lack of any knowledge about the place. Another researcher suggested that there was a St Helens off Brisbane - hence my query. TIA, Alice >
