    3. Hi Catherine I don't know why you have posted to this list. 1881-91 is after the convict period and Melbourne is some distance from Port Jackson. As far as I know, the only Census material from the Australian colonies from this period are abstracts and no individual returns were kept. When looking for records, a good place to start is the LDS (Mormon) catalogue at familysearch.org. https://www.familysearch.org/search/search/library_catalog Looking under Australia, Victoria. Census, there are two entries: An abstract of the NSW 1836 Census for the Port Phillip District and Census of Port Phillip, 1838 Regards On 23 July 2011 20:04, Catherine Rowntree <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi Lesley and listers, > > I am looking to search the 1881,1886,1891 Melbourne census's. 3. Thanks for your help with this. Everyone on the list is so experienced that they usually know where to point me. I'll remember to keep on topic more next time. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jordan Sent: Sunday, July 24, 2011 9:20 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [PJ] 1881 census of Melbourne Hi Catherine I don't know why you have posted to this list. 1881-91 is after the convict period and Melbourne is some distance from Port Jackson.
