Hi Geoff, John McCrumb is not listd in the 1828 NSW Census although his wife is listed under her maiden name - and also listed as Sarah and not Sally. In the Sydney Gazette dated 4 February 1840 there is mentioned a John McCrum who travelled by steerage class from Launceston to Sydney. Don't know if it is the same person, but the name was unusal in the colony. No records of their union but children have variation of surname from McCrum, McCrumb, Chuck, Montgomery . There is a record of a James McCrumb who died as a baby.
