Hi All, Did anyone on the list have a convict on this ship? The owner & commander of the ship General Stewart 1818, Captain Robert Grainger was accused of many things by Captain Barnard of the 84th Regt. guarding the convicts. Some of which were watering the rum, short-weighting the convicts sugar, replacing King's bread with ship's bread & abusing soldiers of the guard. I have transcribed the "Proceedings of the Bench of Magistrates", Captain Grainger's defence & the verdict of the proceedings from the fiche at State Records.
