He was probably sent their initially after arriving - he may have stayed there and worked for the government or sent elsewhere to work for the government. My friend tells me she has ancestors who came on one of the first three fleets but they weren't convicts. Please can someone advise if there is a website that will give names of those other than convicts?. Their surname was JOLLY. Cheers and thanks Janine.
