re 0995082626 "H" convicts 2001 This is the first time I have tried to reply, so sorry if stuffed up. Gill Griffiths posted a note on John Byrnes and Elizabeth Barnes in 2001. The link he provided no longer works. Can anybody provide any information on this couple and their parents? We are related through their daughter Catherine who maried Abraham Newling, a free settler. I can find 7 birth records that I am confident belong to them - 1832 William, 1834 Jeremiah, 1836 John, 1840 catherine, 1846 Harriot, 1850 Joseph and 1856 Elizabeth. Apparently John Byrnes' father came out as John Burn on the "Hindostan", but no details were given on his mother. Elizabeth parents were given as William Barnes, on the "Barwick" in 1798, and Ann Hewlett, on the "Canada" in 1809. Any information would be appreciated Margaret
Hi Margaret The John Burn who arrived on the Hindostan in 1821 was only 18 when he arrived.
