    3. Hi Warren, It's possible of course, but it seems like a longshot as there must be many Catherine Kennedys, Kennedy is such a common name. Is there something about my Catherine Kennedy that makes you think it could be yours? Kerry. From: <wdiggins@aol.com> Date: 24 June 2013 19:12 Subject: Catherine Kennedy To: aus-pt-jackson-convicts@rootsweb.com Hi Kerry, Yes, meant for you. Doing too many things at once. The Catherine Kennedy I am chasing was born about 1810-1815. I wonder if Donald's daughter Catherine might have had a child prior to her marriage to Patrick McCann? Regards, Warren

    2. Hi Kerry, I don't have a Catherine Kennedy in my line. I am just trying to help Liz track down her Catherine Kennedy, who died in Brisbane in early 1853. Records indicate that this Catherine was born about 1810. The Catherine Kennedy convicts have been researched. I am looking at all possibilities / longshots etc. Regards, Warren -----Original Message----- From: Kerry <k4.history@gmail.com> To: aus-pt-jackson-convicts <aus-pt-jackson-convicts@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tue, 25 Jun 2013 7:47 Subject: [PJ] Fwd: Heffernan and Harris Hi Warren, It's possible of course, but it seems like a longshot as there must be many Catherine Kennedys, Kennedy is such a common name. Hi Warren, Further to your below email to Glenda (I don't know if it was meant for me in reply to mine sent yesterday, see here below yours?) re the Kennedys - Donald did have a daughter Catherine b ca 1793 Sydney d 20/8/1876 Castlereagh m 30/3/1815 Patrick McCann (source Hawkesbury Pioneer Register Vol. 2 entry no. 408 page 156). They were in reference to Harris, Heffernan, Comerford,, Fowler, Walsh/Welsh and Hare families. I am connected to Kath's Connor family. I have been researching Comerford as I have a Comerford connection to a Richardson family I am researching (of which J G Richardson was a member). I have researched the family of Felix Hare who was a Sydney Postmaster (first one?), and if I remember correctly he had partner named Bridget Walsh /Welsh. I have Ellen Walsh / Welsh marrying Stephen Allen 1840 Sydney. I have the wife of my Benjamin Allen arriving in 1841 under potection of John Hare and his wife Ellen Hempenstall. My Diggins family connection is from Taunton Somerset. My Diggins family lived at Kurrajong Heights. I have a Hanlon family with an orchard at Bilpin possibly connected to my Hanlons. William Allen convict of the Princess Royal 1823 is possibly the father of my Benjamin Allen. William was originally assigned to Gorge Panton, Postmaster, Sydney Kerry, I have a connection to convict Joseph Greenhalgh, who married free immigrant Caroline Panting / Panton circa 1840. I think Joseph was from the Liverpool England area and may have been a brother to convict Thomas Greenhalgh. Do you know the name of your William Greenhalgh's father? I note that Liz Walker has a connection to the Bilpin area as well (with Powells?), and she also has a Kennedy connection. Perhaps her Catherine Kennedy also had a connection to Donald Kennedy. I hope you can find something in the above information to allow a connection. Kind regards, Warren

    3. Hello Warren, not sure who we talked about maybe the Harris Line.. I have to work to-day I am on a local radio station... so when I get home I can dig out something on the Harris line but sorry to say I have nothing on any of the other names. The Property was Mince Farm if that Helps for now Harris owned it and would not sell it to Hadley or vice versa so Ann bought it a few days after her Husband Andre l'andre died. I am a product of that union. Castle who married Mary, the daughter of convict Thomas Clarkson. Many researchers had thought that this William Harris was the son of James Harris of the102nd regiment and Veterans Corp (second fleeter) who married Eliza Phillips 1810. James was from Shere, Surrey. I was of the opinion that James Harris was given a land grant at Prospect, about where the Dam / Reservoir is presently located. I think James was a next door neighbour of L'Andre. The death of a Mary Skin at Eastern Creek in 1860 (per Trove) indicates she was at the residence of her step-son John Harris Gold-miners Arms Inn. Also a John Harris of Nepean was a witness to the marriage of Mary Skinn to Ralph Cross in 1837. My William Harris (Dunvegan? Castle) from Clapham Surrey had a sister who married a Skinn about 1800. I am thinking she may have been the first wife of convict William Skinn who was convicted at the Old Bailey in 1810. You mentioned that Hadley House is still standing, as is Thomas Clarkson's house at Raby. The Millington's later owned Thomas's house, and I have a Millington / Cross connection as well as the Cross / Skinn connection. Laraine, I have been in contact with you previously, but I can't remember whether it was in connection with my Harris or Allen families. 3. Hi Warren I have an interest in the Skin/Skinn family as their surname is sometimes interpreted incorrectly to be Ikin, one of my lines. As an example, I suggest the following entry from the NSW BDM online index is wrong and is the baptism of Mary Ellen mentioned in your message. V18194807 1B/1819 IKIN MARY E WILLIAM JANE This is a challenge as at one time both a Skin family and an Ikin family lived in Liverpool in the early 1800s, see the link below. http://home.vicnet.net.au/~grthom/ikinerrors.html There is a marriage that looks like Mary Ellen's parents V1815734 147B/1815 SKINN WILLIAM HOST JANE cheers Grahame On 22/06/2013, at 8:22 PM, wdiggins@aol.com wrote: > Hi Listers, > > I am hoping there might be someone on the list who has researched > convict William Skinn, who's daughter Mary Ellen Skinn > married Ralph Cross in 1837. 1. Re: [PJ] John Harris
    2. Hi Laraine, I have William Harris convict of the Dunvegan? Kind regards, Warren -----Original Message----- From: Laraine Dillon <lmcd440@hotmail.com> To: aus-pt-jackson-convicts <aus-pt-jackson-convicts@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sun, 23 Jun 2013 7:24 Subject: [PJ] John Harris Hi Warren, I have Harris connections. In the Nepean a John Harris was the 3rd husband of My 4th Great Grandmother Ann L'Andre. There is a stack on the net about it but I can dig out my files, you can contact me off list. Harris and Hadley intermarried as well Hadley House is is still standing..... That's if we have the same John Harris. Laraine

    2. Hi Grahame, Thanks for your reply. I am in agreement with you as regards Mary Ellen Skinn's birth. There is also a birth for a Rachael Skinn 1816 and Charles Skin 1821 (as Ikin), died 1822 (as Skin - infant). I really need to find if there is a Harris and perhaps an Allen and Jackson family connection as well (I have a Joseph Allen at Liverpool). I think that Ross Beattie has the marriage for William Skinn as to Jane Hoste. The Colonial Secretary's correspondence has William Skinn associated with Joshua John Moore and Thomas Moore. If I remember correctly convict Daniel Allen and William Sherwin also had connections with Thomas Moore. 2. Hi Listers, I am hoping there might be someone on the list who has researched convict William Skinn, who's daughter Mary Ellen Skinn married Ralph Cross in 1837. I note that Ross Beattie has on his website that a John Harris of Nepean was a witness to that marriage. I am particularly interested in Harris family research and was wondering if it is known whether this John Harris was a convict or had convict origins. I am thinking that the first wife of William Skinn may have been nee Harris. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Warren Diggins
