He is listed as convicted at Derby Assizes for a term of life. William Brentnall is listed as one of 376 convicts on the Fairlie dep.1.7.1833 arr. 14.10.1833. Convicted at Notts Qtr sessions AJCP microfilm Roll 90 Piece No. HO11/9 p.241. You should be able to find info on John in the 1828 census on CD at many libraries. In my case one of my convicts was tried at Hereford Quarter Sessions and I contacted Herefordshire Council and was able to get details of his trial for about $36.00 (that was five years ago now) You could check Nottingham Council's website and see if they have a family history section and make enquiries. 3. None of them applied for permission to marry whilst still classed as a convict - therefore you could probably discount numbers 1, 4 and 5. Number 4 also appears to have had problems and did spend a few years on Cockatoo Island from about 1845. Number 6 is not listed on the Indent for the Guildford 1816 although there was a Peter Wilson who arrived on that transport. So that leaves numbers 2 and 3. Edward Wilson per the Dick was about 40 years of age when he arrived in 1821 therefore making him about 60 in 1841. It could be number 2 although the one you are after may have arrived free or been born in the colony or perhaps someone from another colony. Have you checked the 1841 Census? (State Records of NSW) May I ask why you think your Edward was a convict ? regards Lesley Uebel mailto:ckennedy@bigpond.net.au CLAIM A CONVICT http://users.bigpond.net.au/convicts/index.html -----Original Message----- From: aus-pt-jackson-convicts-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-pt-jackson-convicts-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of Cheryl Woodward Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2009 7:12 PM To: aus-pt-jackson-convicts@rootsweb.com Subject: [PJ] Edward WIlson Hi, As far as I can determine there were 6 convicts named Edward WIlson who arrived in NSW. 3. Hi Joan, Lesley and all The Brown , Bushell line is certainly an interesting one. I have really only done my direct line through David Brown down to my father but it is very interesting and there is a lot of information and help out there. I have also found other convicts with just as interesting stories in my direct line. All the stoies and fact that Lesley sends through about the time and the area around the Hawkesbury all add to the picture. I have found that there is more than one connection between any of the families in the area - cousin marrying cousins, in-laws marrying etc. It is also intgeresting to follow the way names change over the years. 3. Hi Jeanette The only way to get a detailed record of the trial (if it exists) is to look up the trial records in England, see first site below. However you can find some brief details on AJCP reels held in various libraries in Australia, see second site below. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jdriver/news/ Transportations.html http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au/navigators/convicts/trial_court_records/ index.html Once you have the date of the trial, there may be a report of the trial in a local newspaper in Nottingham (use google). cheers Grahame On 16/01/2009, at 8:01 AM, Jeanette Brentnall wrote: > Hi Leslie, > I'm hoping that since this site is about convicts it may also cover > the trials that led them to being sent to the colonies. > > My convict BRENTNALLs, William and John, were transported as a result > of hearings at the following sessions: > > C/QSM/1/41 Quarter session minutes of Nottinghamshire County Council, > 1827-1830 > CA/3265 Quarter session record book of Nottingham Borough, July 1829- > January 1831 > > but to access details it looks like I will have to pay someone over > there to look them up and copy and send. > Do you know whether there is any other way of seeing them (without > going there)? > Many thanks, > > Jeanette > > > > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to AUS-PT- > JACKSON-CONVICTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' > without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

My convict BRENTNALLs, William and John, were transported as a result of hearings at the following sessions: C/QSM/1/41 Quarter session minutes of Nottinghamshire County Council, 1827-1830 CA/3265 Quarter session record book of Nottingham Borough, July 1829- January 1831 but to access details it looks like I will have to pay someone over there to look them up and copy and send. Do you know whether there is any other way of seeing them (without going there)? Many thanks, Jeanette

    3. Hi Listers, I remember there being a link a while back to old newspapers online. I've looked through the archives but can't find it. I was interested in the Richmond River Express 1880-1930, thereabouts. Kind regards, Marina.

    2. Lesley Uebel
    3. Hi Kath I did explain to you today and the list a few days ago that Rootsweb is having problems with a lot of its lists. There is nothing I can do about it. When you replied to that person with an address you did post it to the PJ List. I would rather emails remain on topic. When anyone joins this list they are provided with a set of guidelines, one of which is: Please do not send messages about broken links, other technical problems or spam to the list. If you are experiencing any problems please send a private message to me.
