Hi List, I just dropped by to let everyone know there are already 34 on the list, and we are growing fast. Nice to see a mix of names both old and new to me. The eastern boundary will probably remain quite imprecise for quite some time - if you feel your family is in the west, please feel free to post here. My families are BARRACLOUGH and WALKER, both from the Darling River. When we held a family reunion in Wentworth in the 1980s, I am sure half the population of Wilcannia came. We had a lovely time putting a headstone in the Pooncarie cemetery - didn't have a spirit level, so lined it up using a bottle of beer. My very Methodist Great Grandmother, whose headstone it was, would have been horrified!!! The Barracloughs ran a horse changing establishment south of Pooncarie, which had a property name of Kapana. You might notice that is part of my e-mail address. Now nothing except flyblown sand. I also had bush publicans all over the place, such as at Packsaddle and White Cliffs. But that is another story.
