The NSW State Library's PICMAN has a wonderful photo of Don BURNS handling 14 horses to clear land on "Rutherglen" - Nyngan. (At Work and Play - 03539). Now MY Daniel BYRNES jun. was known as Don (born 1870). He was in the general - very general - vicinity at the time. The photo is of a tall man, and all the male BYRNES were tall strapping figures. However, if I am to claim him as mine simply on the basis of his stature, then I should mention that the BYRNES' women were petite, with waists that could be spanned by two hands. In this statement I stress the past tense. So things change; and generalisations should not be used to try to claim kinship. Does anyone know anything about the Don BURNS who appears in the Rutherglen photo? Regards ..............Rusheen.
