Many of you have congratulated me on my Publicans, but I doubt that any of you know how much the finished product you see is largely due to the wonderful work of our List Ad Min, Linda, and her Deputy Peter. My pubs were, over months, three days a week at the library, followed by multi days at home to try to untangle the information. (My love to my ever tolerant husband who has lost me to the drink for so long.) My work was finished. I submitted it. It appeared on NSW-WEST. NOT AS SIMPLE AS IT MIGHT SEEM. In this world, where when we want something copied, we simply put the original material in a machine, press a button, and the copies appear, I had naively thought that this was all that was involved with my publican information. I WAS WRONG. Firstly there was the task of making my spreadsheet Licenses appear in a readible form for people to easily access. I can't begin to understand how Peter managed this. All I know is that he was not helped by my using hyphens without spacing which meant that some of the text refused to wrap. I thank him for his patience with my total lack of computer knowledge, firstly with the Leases, and now with the Publicans. In the second section, I thought there would be work - 120 pages of copying - but thought that it could be done a page at a time. WRONG AGAIN. Hotel by hotel, Linda was faced with great slabs of unformatted information that she had to carefully reassemble. (All those ads that I did must have been so much work!) Her contribution didn't stop there. She meticulously checked all details - which stopped me from omitting such things as a word which would have given me an ad for the Globe Hotel, Albury where McCracken's XXX was drawn through (ice) One of Alcock's Newest Billiard Table. - anyone for billiards?? Linda and Peter have helped me, A TOTAL AMATEUR, to present my information in a way that it is useable by others. Just look at our WEST Homepages. THEY ARE PLAIN - GREAT!!!!. They are not that way because well meaning amateurs like me decided that they would like to share some of their info. It has taken all the skill and time and commitment of Linda and Peter, to give us A WONDERFUL RESOURCE. I think it is time that we stopped taking all this for granted. I would like you to show how much you appreciate the work of Linda and Peter BY GIVING THREE CHEERS.......HIP PIP.........
