    3. Hi Marie and list. Here is the poem about my ancestor as requested. It was published in the "Independent Advertiser" Print, Gunnedah. I don't know what date. There are five verses as follows. If you are not interested, just delete this email now. Best wishes, Jill. "KANGAROO NED" by Harry Stockdale Did I know him - did I not, Sir, Old Ned Warmoll, him from Bourke; Why, I've seen him "put 'em up," Sir; Beating Ned war'nt easy work. Was he a big'un, no he war'nt, Fairly tall and rather slight; There were a few round Bourke I'm told Who agreed that Ned could fight. Had some good'uns, I b'lieve you, lad, But the best of all the crew A little bay - a lepper good, Ned called him Kangaroo. Now Ned was fond o' that ere horse - Or a pony's nearer true- For he was only just about What's known as fourteen two. A plum; yes stranger that's bout right I couldn't tell you half he knew, He was a knowing card, that bay, That Ned called Kangaroo. I've heard Ned swear that he could talk- I mean the horse, not Ned- And 'praps he might, but Ned alone Could tell the words he said. When others were tired and failing, You could stake your shirt on one, That he was galloping, galloping, The bay was galloping on. Was topping the rails in good style, Is leading them all but two; He catches them, passes and leads, Does the pony Kangaroo. Little, but good, the pony was, Honest, and game, and true; Could jump like a deer, or rather, An old man Kangaroo. Where are they now? that's hard to say; Are they together those two? Old Ned from the Darling River, And his pony - Kangaroo.
