I have just come back from a long and frustrating day at the NSW State Records Office. Only so because I never found what I wanted to find :-( However I did learn some information that may be of help for our interstate and overseas members so I thought I would share. The State Records Office is now offering a Probate Packet Copying Service via the internet. You need to provide complete details and they will only copy the entire packet (the ones that I have copied in their entirety usually end up costing me around the $20 mark) but its a huge plus for those folk who live interstate or overseas. In most cases you will still need to be able to access the probate indexes BUT the other plus is that they have upgraded the Archives Investigator on their web site so that it searches series 2 of the probate packets for you on line. Anyway I just thought it may be helpful information for folk. And if need be I can always go to my local library and do lookups on the indexes if it is ever of any help. Take Care Karen (researching the names Miller, Jones, Maitland, Wolstenholme, Schuler, Reed, Carrick and Cahill)
