I have been able to assist a couple of listers lately with details from the following book. I thought I may as well publish the details for the interest of all. In a book published in Nov 1999 entitled "A piece of the Story" which is a National Directory of Records of Catholic Organisations caring for children separated from families, there is a state by state listing of Catholic groups who have cared for orphans and other children who were removed from their families for any reason. It is a fairly comprehensive book, which gives a brief description of the organization, the Location, Church organization, years of operation, type of service, sex and ages of children, a contact address & phone no, as well as access to records and the type of records kept. The appendices also have a good list of addresses for people searching state records for adoption details etc. I am not sure where it can be purchased but it is published by the Australian Catholic Social Welfare Commission.
