Hi everyone, I have just subscribed and am looking for information on the O'Meara family who lived in Young NSW from 1919 to the 1960's, they later moved to Meadowbrook NSW. I am doing a heritage album up for my children and would love them to know of their great grandparents, I have been able to research back to the early 1800's for all my side but have hardly any information on my ex's side except for information I have researched on the family before they came to Australia. Sadly my ex-husbands family has cut us off and refuse to let my children know anything of their side of the family, which I feel is a great tragedy. We know that Michael O'Meara was born in Birr Tipperary in 1900, son of Anne McGrath and Michael O'Meara. Michael and his brother Edward came to Australia in 1912. Michael fought in the 1st world war in the 4th D.A.C. Battalion. After the war he went back to Ireland, married Cecilia Madden in Dublin in 1919 and they both came to Australia and settled at Young NSW. Michael and Cecilia had five children, Annie died as a child (cause of death unknown), then there was Catherine, Nina and Mary Jo and a son John who tragically spent all of his life in a mental asylum. I believe the family moved to Meadowbrook circa 1960's. Celia died in 1973 and Michael in 1948. Michaels brother Edward died in his early 30's and is buried at Botany. If anybody has any knowledge of this family I would dearly love to hear from you. Best regards Maureen
