I have been lucky enough to obtain a copy of a letter sent by my great grand-mother to Xavier College Melbourne with her address Mary Ziele, c/- Henderson Bros Yathong Hillston NSW dated November 1882. She indicates she will send school fees by Mr Henderson on his next trip to Melbourne. Yathong is now a nature reserve. We have contacted the Henderson family at Hillston but they came from an entirely different area. Mary was a cook but it seems an extraordinary distance to travel from Melbourne for work. Cobb & Co operated through that area at that time, rail came much later The questions - What was Yathong 1882/1883. Property, mining or ? Henderson Bros - What connection did the Hendersons have with Yathong, Hillston or Cobb & Co or with some other means of travel between there and Melbourne. I would be grateful if anyone has any information or suggestions where I might try next. Dear Margaret, Just a query.I have a Henderson in my research i.e. my great grandmother. She has been a real mystery to me. She was married to a John Henderson. This was her 2nd marriage. Previous marriage to Samuel John Parker Gill.
