    1. Re: [NSW-W] WILGA DOWNS
    2. Hi Stephanie, Wilga Downs homestead is approx. 35k's south west from Byrock. Byrock is mid way between Nyngan and Bourke on the Mitchell Highway, and "Wilga Downs"is still shown on the current NRMA touring map #7. "Wilga Downs" adjoins "Curraweena" on its western boundary, which was owned by my g.grandfather John Little in the 1880-90's. Curraweena was of 170,000 acres and I believe Wilga was only slightly smaller. For the Littles to get to Byrock (Bye Rock) they had to travel through Wilga, so were on good terms with the people there. In 1886 John Little's nephew Charles White at the age of 16 went there to gain experience on the land and worked there and Glen Arif till 1894. In 1946 he returned to Curraweena and spent afew days reminiscing of his time during the 80's. He compiled an extensive narrative of the country side and the people living there, it is wonderfully descriptive. If you would like to contact me directly on [email protected] I will arrange to send you a copy, Wilga Downs is mentioned a few times. Regards Lin Little. Does anyone have any information about a station south of Bourke called " Wilga Downs " and the owners James and Catherine Egan poss 1880's and later, please Stephanie Hume [email protected]
