Harold and Alison, A few items dredged from NSW indexes that may or may not fit with your request. A James B ROWE died 1934 New Lambton (Newcastle) 1934 father Thomas mother Mary. His death certificate bought via one of the agents might be useful. If this is the father of the 7 children born in Wilcannia and Broken Hill then perhaps the following marriages belong to some of the children. Note all seven births seem to have been registered in Wilcannia where William's death in 1890 was also registered. Mary E death was registered in Broken Hill South.in 1906. Bessie F ROWE mar Frank JARRETT 1929 New Lambton Thomas R mar Alma A BAILEY 1920 New Lambton George Courtney ROWE mar Ruby Iris DISCOMBE 1942 Wyong which in the 1940s was still only an hour by road or train from New Lambton There were many Broken Hill families moved to Newcastle in depression years either for mining, steel works or railways.I can name a few in my immediate family who made this move and also happened to settle in New Lambton. There are also many ROWE families based in Broken Hill. For example there are 44 deaths in Broken Hill in the indexes 1889 - 1918 for people with the Rowe surname as well as two in Broken Hill South and two in Wilcannia. There was a Retallick was a mayor of Broken Hill I think back in early years. David Central Coast NSW not far from Wyong, formerly of New Lambton and Broken Hill. ----- Original Message ----- Subject: [NSW-W] Help re internet sources please > Dear Listers > I have had an email from an elderly ex-missionary living in Thailand who has > recently been introduced to the joys of the internet for family history > research. > I do hope someone can help me help Harold > Thanks Alison > > Below is what he wants a bit of help with:- > ...Phlippa Bowcher (Boucher) was the daughter of Mathew Gross and Mary > Slade; married a John Retallack in 1823, and James Hill Bowcher in > 1833.Philippa, James and daughter Mary migrated to Australia in the early > 1850s, and settled in Bendigo. > Mary married Thomas Rowe in Bendigo in 1857, and their first child was James > Bowcher Rowe. > > James Bowcher Rowe moved to NSW, married a lady named Lillian Grant and, by > her, had, to my knowledge, seven children.
