I have a feeling That some of my wifes ancestors are related to your Hancocks. When you first placed your messages here , I did a quick search for a William Hancock in my wifes family tree , the ones I found , did not seem to be related to your Wiliam Hancock, However , I am not so sure now. My Wifes ancestors on the Hancock side , came from Wilcannia, Hay and Albury. It seems more of a co-incidence that the Hancocks on your side come from very near the same areas. I think their may be a sibling Relationship somewhere along the line. billsymo@bigpond.net.au www.users.bigpond.com/bill_symo.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edmiston & Taylor" <et.mob@bigpond.com> To: <AUS-NSW-WEST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 11, 2004 10:28 PM Subject: [NSW-W] Hancock - Hay / Booligal / Cargellico / Teryawynia > Thanks to all who assisted with my search for Teryawinia. I have located the homestead "Teryawynia" (at least on a map) on the banks of Talyawalka Creek, which is, as was suggested, a tributary of the Darling. Teryawynia is about 80k ENE of Menindee. > Having now delved a bit more into the travels of William Hancock and his wife Sarah Jane Dixon I am interested to know if anybody has stumbled across them at these locations or has background information on these stations / places: > "Wooloondool" Station via Hay 1878 where William was a labourer. > Booligal (as in "Hay, Hell and Booligal"), 1879 where again William lists his occupation as labourer. > "Woones" (Or something similar) Station via Cargellico 1891 which may be near "Indoolar" (or similar), again a labourer. > "Teryawynia" Station 1883 where William was a trapper. > Children Wilhelmina, William Henry, John Robert and Elizabeth Louisa were born while they lived at the above respective locations. > Thanks > Bruce Taylor > > > ==== AUS-NSW-WEST Mailing List ==== > To search posts to the list, even back to 1999, go to > http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl > and, when asked, enter the list name as AUS-NSW-WEST >
