    1. [NSW-W] This list
    2. Barry & Morna
    3. Congratulations Linda and Thankyou for this resource!! I have been searching for just such a list so will begin with my interests. My fathers family were from Balranald. He was born there ARTHUR STANLEY WARD 4.9.1903. His parents were SELINA SOPHIA REARDEN/REARDON AND HENRY WARD. I have a lot of info on the REARDENS but the Wards are proving a puzzle. The marriage certificate for the above gives his parents as William Ward and Sarah Boxshall. These 2 were married in Melbourne in 1844 some 23 years before Henry was born in Booligal. (Again according to his marriage certificate) I would love to contact someone with access to Booligal C of E records to look for a Christening for Henry Ward in 1867/68 because I have been so far unable to find a Birth Certificate for him. Any hints gratefully accepted. Morna in Uralla NSW.

    1. [NSW-W] The List is Growing
    2. Linda Barraclough
    3. Hi List, I just dropped by to let everyone know there are already 34 on the list, and we are growing fast. Nice to see a mix of names both old and new to me. The eastern boundary will probably remain quite imprecise for quite some time - if you feel your family is in the west, please feel free to post here. My families are BARRACLOUGH and WALKER, both from the Darling River. When we held a family reunion in Wentworth in the 1980s, I am sure half the population of Wilcannia came. We had a lovely time putting a headstone in the Pooncarie cemetery - didn't have a spirit level, so lined it up using a bottle of beer. My very Methodist Great Grandmother, whose headstone it was, would have been horrified!!! The Barracloughs ran a horse changing establishment south of Pooncarie, which had a property name of Kapana. You might notice that is part of my e-mail address. Now nothing except flyblown sand. I also had bush publicans all over the place, such as at Packsaddle and White Cliffs. But that is another story. Please feel free to come on the list and tell us about your families. Cheers Linda Barraclough Briagolong, Victoria, Australia List Owner: AUS-NSW-WEST email: [email protected]

    1. [NSW-W] Introductions
    2. Linda Barraclough
    3. Hi Westies This is just to let everyone know that there are now about fourteen of us on the list, so I thought it was time to start introductions. :) My name is Linda Barraclough, and I have been running AUS-VIC-GIPPSLAND, a large Victorian regional list, for about a year. Trouble is, my family isn't from there, my father's family has been all along the Darling River since the 1870s, so I thought I would start a list for there. Problem is, the suggestion was no-one overseas would relate to "Darling River", so I should go for "West". It is really hard to know though, where "west" starts. At this stage I have said Nyngan, because I wanted to go as far east as Brewarrina, to stick with the river. However I realise Dubbo is also "west". I am hoping, optimistically, that someone might like to start a "Central West" or "Central" somewhere along the line. From experience, to go from the SA border to meet ORANGEBATHURST will create far too big an area. So if anyone out there has always had a yen to create a list, please feel free to step forward. But, having said that, until someone gets a list up and running for that area, possibly people might like to find a home on the "west" list. Everyone is certainly most welcome - please feel free to introduce yourself, and tell us all where your western interests lie. In a couple of weeks I hope to have a webpage up and running for the list. Problem is you will meet the Deputy on this list soon, who does all that sort of thing. He is creating a new page for his new list, AUS-VIC-NE, and is going to get that up and running before he goes west. 1. [NSW-W] Hickey, Simpson, Cameron, Bock, Rogers, Quinn, Oxley, Sandison/erson, Fitzpatrick; all west of Bathurst, mainly Forbes, Parkes, Dubbo and Nyngan

    3. Hi All, Hickey, Simpson, Cameron, Bock, Rogers, Quinn, Oxley, Sandison/erson, Fitzpatrick; all west of Bathurst, mainly Forbes, Parkes, Dubbo and Nyngan All the above names are included in a database http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=phanly which will allow you to see the family trees. Much of the database is to do with Bellingen, but my wife's family is from Nyngan area with roots back through Dubbo, Bathurst and Penrith. Most are from Ireland, Scotland, England and Germany. Hope this is of interest to some. Let me know if you find any links. Congratulations to Linda on setting up the list. 3. Well done, Linda. I coordinate [email protected] but my wife's family come from Nyngan, hence my interest. I have subscribed and as soon as I get a confirmation will post an email with a list of names to help get the ball rolling. Suggest you coordinate with [email protected] to coordinate boundaries along some natural feature and post to both lists so that people know where the boundaries are. For example Who covers Dubbo? Wellington? Can I suggest you make clear in the first line of your emails what has to be done to get your real email address.
