Hello Peter I would be very interested in receiving any additional information you maybe able to give me. I am a "Fellow" of Blacktown and District Historical Society and also hold their Archives so any information that adds another branch to any of our early pioneer or convict's data is always most welcome. Kindest Regards Hazel in Lethbridge Park, NSW. ----- Original Message ----- From: peter taylor <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2000 11:43 AM Subject: [NSW-W] Re. Hello All I am trying to get some information about my 2xG.Gfather Malcolm Nicholson. I have a marriage certificate of his son Robert Nicholson with Harriet Martha Williams, they married at the Court House, Walgett on 11.5.1876. I am unable to find any further details of Malcolm Nicholson or Mary Ann Harding who was shown on the certificate as Robert's mother. Malcolm's usual place of residence is shown as Walgett and his occupation as Farmer. Any information about my 2xG.Gmother Mary Ann Harding would be appreciated as well. Regards Jenny
Hello Hazel I have a sister-in-law whose maiden name is AGLAND, maybe I can help you find out info. Hi Listers, Would anyone have any knowledge of properties known as "Wooyeo Station" and out station "Booroobil" I believe they bordered the Lachlan River during the 1800's. Regards Lins.
Hi has any one heard of "Richmond Station" owned by H.N. Conn around 1935 in Quandiallia. Thanks Kris hi
Hi Marg, Sadly I have only just returned today from South Australia as my Aunt who was a great help in searching for our family information for our book, passed away last Saturday and I had the sad task of organising the funeral etc. It is a great loss to me as she was a great friend and she had the best memory and was only aged 66. Thank you so much and also to your Mum for all the help you have given on the Flack family. I will definately write to Roy Flack and let you know what happens. I could search the Deaths for N.S.W. for the years that you found of Ada and Arthur also. Bye for now, will contact you soon. kindest regards to your mother. Lorene
Hi Lorene Mum is going to post the bits on to me, and I will forward them if there is much there, I think she said there was a funeral notice, but no family info on it. It seems the first Ada that died last year was a bit of a mix up, and it was Ada FLOOD not Ada FLACK they were referring to. But here goes with mums efforts again yesterday. Ada FLACK died 26 Nov 1967 aged 82yrs Arthur George of "Pine Hill" died 16 Jul 1968 also aged 82yrs Son Arthur FLACK died 15 Jan 1962 aged 49yrs There are two of the family still living Roy FLACK "Pine Hill" Narrandera and Florrie, don't know where she is. Mum says she thinks Roy is getting on a bit, but if you wrote to him he may be able answer some questions. Mum said to apologise for the delay in getting the date to you, I thanked her and said job well done, I thought you wouldn't mind in the least. That every little bit helps Mum rang WE + B Flack 02 69591044, a grandson [don't know of who : )] she said if you like she will get the address from the phone book, "they didn't seem to know much about the family, but if you sent a sort of questionaire they may be able to fill it in via Roy " Hope this is of some help, its a shame she couldn't find an obit, or something with the parents names, I think she mentioned the family settled more from around the Griffith area than Narrandera. Hope you have a lovely day, looks like we may be in for a cool if not wet one. We have been spoilt with a few weeks of glorious days. Hi, I've just joined this list and I'm researching the BIRT family from the Forbes area. William Stephen Birt and his wife Sarah Ann came to New South Wales in the mid-1800's and although I have quite a lot on this family, I would like to contact descendants of all of them. All queries are welcome. Regards, Pam John & Pam Coppock Phone>(07)3264-4453 E-Mail> [email protected]
Hi Listers, During the research into my g.grandfather John Little's movements in Western N.S.W.I checked many electoral rolls. John Little held the freehold on "Curraweena Station" between 1882 - 91. Curraweena was a property of 170,000 acres situated midway between Bourke and Cobar. The following are the names of voters registered at Curraweena for the period 1881 - 82 : John Hicks, Peter Hutton, Martin & Augustus Lucas, John McLaren, John McIntyre (held the freehold), Andrew McIntyre, James & Donald Matherson, Henry Phillips (held the leasehold of the Curraweena Hotel), Reinalt Williams. The period 1892 - 93 : Charles White, Henry Boan, Noah R. Boss, Edward B. Burke, Alexander Cox, William Deignan (leasehold Curraweena Hotel), Patrick McNamara, George & John O'Brien, Hector McNab ( resident of Curraweena Hotel). >From 1891 - 94 John Little held the freehold to "Glen - Arif" station, a property of 800,000 acres situated between Nyngan and Bourke ( near Coolibah). The voters registered at Glen Arif during 1892 - 93 were :Francis Cassidy, Henry & James Kilpatrick James L'Estrange, Thomas Leigh, Arthur & John Lefoe,Henry Mills, William Monaghan, Thomas Nevin, William Roberts, Alfred Siddons, Arthur Tindall, John Turner. Perhaps some of these names may have some historical significance to listers. Regards Lins.
Hello Listers, Recently I have realised that the addresses for the list's archives mentioned in the 'Welcome' message you received when you subscribed to this list (which, of course, you read fully) and on the website FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page, has been changed. Also Rootsweb's list search facility had been inoperational for a while, but now seems to be working well. Both the message and webpage have been corrected and uploaded today, but below is the new section, in case anyone (especially those new to the list) want to see what has been posted or to do searches on previous posts. Cheers Peter Lakeman ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Since its creation in March 2000, the AUS-NSW-WEST list has been archived by Rootsweb. To look at all the posts to the list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/AUS-NSW-WEST-L/ and select a month from the next screen. This will show you all the posts to the list for that month. Alternatively, you can search for particular topics/text on the list by going to http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl enter the list name (in this case AUS-NSW-WEST) in the 'Name of List' field and click on the 'Submit Query' button. On the next page, type in a search phrase such as a name or a location (do not use NSW or WEST as every post will be found) in the 'Query' field, select the year you want to search, click the 'Search' button, and a list of all post for that year which includes that search phrase will be displayed. Then select one of the displayed posts (using one of the blue options underneath each post) to view the actual post. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

-------- Original Message -------- Subject: John EGAN Date: Wed, 27 Sep 2000 03:10:52 -0700 From: "Stephanie Hume" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> I am searching for information on John EGAN, farmer, possibly of Bourke, born Ireland , who was reputed to have lived to 112 years old. I think he may have been born 1812-15 and wonder if anyone local has heard of him Many thanks Stephanie Hume [email protected]
In July I posted a question on the soc.genealogy.aus+nz newsgroup about the Tooleybuc Cemetery records. I've been trying to locate them for some time so that I could arrange a headstone for my ancestors buried there. I just learnt that in the last eight or ten years these records were totally destroyed during a plague of mice. I can't tell you how disappointed I am that these records were available ten years ago when my mother visited the area, and are now gone forever. To all those people out there in country districts, please ensure that there is more than one copy of your precious records - preferably placed in a local library or society for safe-keeping. It is sad that so many years after photocopiers were invented no-one (not even the nearest historical society or family history society) seems to have made a copy. In the meantime, I now have a map of the Tooleybuc Cemetery. If you have a relative buried in an unmarked grave at Tooleybuc, and you know the location, I'd be grateful if you would email me directly. Perhaps a partial reconstruction of the records is possible. I'll donate any info I get to the Swan Hill Family History Society and other appropriate groups. Penny
