    1. [NSW-W] LITTLE/CARTER at Goodnight, NSW
    2. Penny Mercer
    3. James (Jimmy) Reuben Little (the son of Mary Ann Deborah Sharrock and Francis Patterson Little) and his brother George Lesby Little apparently left the mines at Wonthaggi to live at Goodnight, NSW (near Swan Hill) where they grew grapes for the dried fruit market. They had Sharrock and Baulch family already living there. Also living at Goodnight were George Carter (son of William Carter and Susan Baulch) and his wife Deborah (sister of Mary Ann Deborah Sharrock mentioned above). I'd love to exchange info with anyone who knows more about these families at Goodnight or Wonthaggi. I'm also keen to exchange info with anyone who has family connections, information, photos etc on Goodnight, NSW or family buried at the nearby Tooleybuc Cemetery. Penny

    1. [NSW-W] INVITATION
    2. Mary Lidbetter
    3. INVITATION Members of Families that were connected with the northern area of the Berry Estate and surrounding districts in 1901 are invited to a Celebratory Picnic on the Berry Showground on Saturday 12 May 2001. This is to commemorate the picnic held as part of the official NSW State Program when the Government sent 2 train loads of official guests to the Berry Showground, for the trip and picnic. Although this was held the same week as the Federation Celebrations in Sydney the 2001 event will be held 12 May 2001. The Berry and District Historical Society is co-ordinators of the event assisted by local organisations. Perhaps your family would like to assist in mounting a small display with perhaps a small outline of your history and the district to where your families have spread. I am currently calling for expressions of interest and the space available for each family will depend on the number of acceptances. Perhaps your family would like to enter a float in the procession or march as a group under a family banner. maybe even in costume. CONTACT Hon Sec BDHS - Mrs June Robson PO Box 153 Berry NSW 2535 Email: <[email protected]> Family History Display - Mrs Mary Lidbetter, 13 King Street Berry NSW 2535 Email: <[email protected] Programme updates will be posted on: Berry & District Historical Society web page: <www.berryhistory.org.au>

    1. [NSW-W] List for South West Area /KILDERRY AND CALLAGHAN FAMILIES
    2. Jennifer Thanks for your listings for the SE and West Lists. The area that I am researching is the area in between these two lists. Just found a description of South West Slopes in a newspaper - takes in Grenfell, Young, Gundagai, Holbrook, Tumut, Batlow and Albury. Being the list owner wouldn't work, Jennifer, as I would need a "Dummies Book for Listowners" :-) Posting my interests in the Western area - Richard and Mary (nee O'Loughlin) KILDERRY were in the Broken Hill area where Mary died in 1891. Children: Bridget b. 1863, Thomas 1865-1873, Margaret 1866-1867, Patrick 1868-1882, Mary Ellen 1870-1892, Richard b.1872, John 1873-1892, Anne 1877-1892 and Catherine b. 1879. The son Richard married Mary Annie Callaghan in Kalgoorlie in 1898. Mary Annie Callaghan was the daughter of Daniel and Bridget Callaghan, an Irish immigrant who worked as a laundress/washer women in Broken Hill. She had seven brothers, two were working in Broken Hill. Anyone researching or connected with these families I would like to hear from you. Judith Wark

    1. Re: [NSW-W] WILGA DOWNS
    2. Hi Stephanie, Wilga Downs homestead is approx. 35k's south west from Byrock. Byrock is mid way between Nyngan and Bourke on the Mitchell Highway, and "Wilga Downs"is still shown on the current NRMA touring map #7. "Wilga Downs" adjoins "Curraweena" on its western boundary, which was owned by my g.grandfather John Little in the 1880-90's. Curraweena was of 170,000 acres and I believe Wilga was only slightly smaller. For the Littles to get to Byrock (Bye Rock) they had to travel through Wilga, so were on good terms with the people there. In 1886 John Little's nephew Charles White at the age of 16 went there to gain experience on the land and worked there and Glen Arif till 1894. In 1946 he returned to Curraweena and spent afew days reminiscing of his time during the 80's. He compiled an extensive narrative of the country side and the people living there, it is wonderfully descriptive. If you would like to contact me directly on [email protected] I will arrange to send you a copy, Wilga Downs is mentioned a few times. Regards Lin Little. Does anyone have any information about a station south of Bourke called " Wilga Downs " and the owners James and Catherine Egan poss 1880's and later, please Stephanie Hume [email protected]
