Further to Paul's good description of the location of Bunnerungie Station, the property is still a going concern today, under the proprietorship of P & C Larwood. Their address is Bunnerungie Station, Via Wentworth, NSW 2648. Phone/Fax 03 5027 0220. Cheers and Christmas blessings to all fellow listers. Mal
Hi Kay, I have an atlas that has Bunneringee Homestead approximately 40miles north of Wentworth( which is just West of Mildura) Bunneringee is just to the East of the Ana Branch of the Darling River and is a couple (maybe 5 to 10) kilometres south of Milkengay Lake. If you draw a line between Wentworth and Broken Hill you should see it (if its on the map). I hope this helps Good Luck Paul Stretton ----- Original Message ----- From: Kay Williams <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, December 08, 2000 8:46 PM Subject: [NSW-W] Bunneringee Station > Has anyone any idea where Bunneringee Station was in 1840s?? Malcolm North of Wilcannia, I think, is the town of White Cliffs - opal country. A large number of families went there, I don't know when - haven't time to look it up, but because of the severe conditions out that way, and the total lack of water, some of them - quite a lot I believe, tried to make for other opal fields, and died on the way, particularly the children. it's a sad tale. Perhaps that's way there are graves in the remote area. Regards PastW
Hello fellow listers. Further to my original posting on 16 Mar 2000 concerning Lambert/Bradshaw in the Wilcannia area (check the Mar 2000 Archive), we have obtained a death certificate of George Lambert, the seventh child of Eugenie Matilda Lambert (nee Bradshaw) from her second? relationship. He died on 6 Jul 1898 at Lake Dick and was buried there the following day. He was just 5 days old. Names which appear on this certificate include Alex Munro JP, registered at Wilcannia by J Laidlaw on 18 Jul 1898, James Kelly was the undertaker, and witnesses to the burial were J J Peat? and William Kennedy (possibly the father). Lake Dick is located about 40 km north of Wilcannia, west of the Paroo River and is on "Tillenbumrie?" Station. The proprietor informed me that there was an old shack and possible small graves on the edge of the lake, each fenced- off with chickenwire. Most have since been covered with sand drifts. He wondered why people would be living there in the first place! We have applied for a couple of more certificates for the registered death and birth of two more of the children, in the hope that further information may be gleaned which will help find out what happened to Eugenie and the other four children whose fate has not been recorded: William b 1891, Lena b 1892, Hilda b 1894 and Dalis Y b 1899. This last child was the 13th for Eugenie, giving birth at 41 years of age. Our hope is that someone may know something of the history of this area, to explain why this family should be in such a relatively remote location during the 1890's depression years and leading up to severe drought conditions towards the end of the 19th century. Perhaps some on the names mentioned may ring a bell. I am following up the possibility that Wiliam Kennedy may have been in the employ or contracted to Station owners in the area. Unfortunately, one likely source was the Kidman Family, but most of their early records were destroyed by fire in Adelaide. The search for Eugenie and her children goes on!

Hi Everyone I am searching for my cousin Dorothy WHITE (we called her Aunty). She was born between 1920 and 1925 in Sydney (we think). Her mother was Sarah WHITE and we believe her father was Charles WHITE.We lost contact in the 1960's when she was living (we think) in central NSW. She had contacted my mother about 1965 after her sister Ethel died. Ethel died in St.Kilda, Vic in 1964. Dorothy said she was married and Mum thinks the name was Noakes, but we are not sure as Dorothy was adopted out when she was young, and that Noakes may have been her adopted name. We believe Dorothy and her brother Freddy were adopted out together from Sydney. Dorothy also said she had children. When she was talking to Mum she asked about the racehorses in Glen Innes, apparently their had been racehorses in the family early this century. If Dorothy is still alive she would be around 80 years old. She may be even in a nursing home. Dorothy's mother, Sarah, lived at "Butter Leaf", Glen Innes between the years 1927 and 1937. Sarah White died in Stockton in 1956. Dorothy had a sister, Ethel, b. 1914, Frederick, b. 1918, Alexander, b. ? 1926, d. 1926. and John Albert White, born 1928 in Collaroy, NSW. Can someone check local electoral rolls or phone books, or death notices, or etc. etc. any clues would be great. Does anyone know of my Aunt and my cousins? Regards Vicki White Please reply to me care of [email protected]
Hi, I'm new to this list and would be pleased to hear from anyone with an interest in the surnames EISENBERG/DRUMMOND/HODSHON in the Broken Hill area. Regards, Kerry Perth
