    1. Re: [ANS] Seeking to find - Nurse BROWN, 12 Edware Road, Enmore 1955ish?
    2. Mary Cunningham
    3. Hi all I can still remember the face of the nurse who held my hand all the way down to the theatre in 1968, when I was a child about to have major surgery on my knees. Remember in those days nurses trained in hospitals, so I would contact the local hospital for Enmore and ask them about staff lists. I got the medical notes from my six month stay in hospital, so records are kept. God bless those who choose to keep them. I was in the Royal Alexandria Hospital for children at Camperdown, and they had a huge nurses quarters on site. Perhaps they only made the nursing students live onsite, as they would have been aged 15 and up. Your Nurse Brown may have been an older and more qualified nurse so was allowed to live off site. Just a thought. Mary Cunningham On 22/06/2012, at 6:20 PM, "KEMSLEY, Robert N. 3. Hi all To add to your conversation re orphaned boys, there were two ships permanently docked off Cockatoo Island in Sydney. One was the Sobrian and I can't remember the name of the other one. They were like schools for the boys. Training ships I think they were called. We moved three years ago, and a lot of my genealogy stuff is still in storage because we moved in to a unit. otherwise I could dig out more info for you. I had thought that my great grandfather might have been one of the boys, but didn't find anything on him. Thank you, and kind regards Mary Cunningham Core Developments NQ Pty Ltd PO Box 3761 Hermit Park Q 4812 Ph: 07 4772 6026 On 27 June 2012 15:34, Alistair Cameron <acameron@hinet.net.au> wrote: > On 27/06/2012 12:00 PM, KEMSLEY, Robert N. 3. Try the Big Brother Movement in Sydney. I came out on the Orcades with a group of boys (16 - 17 year olds ) and arrived in Sydney in January 1952 and stayed in their hostel at Homebush.
