Hi all This intrigued me so I did a bit of searching for Helen Emily and went on to Trove and searched first for Alfred E Gilchrist then Alf E Gilchrist and that is when I struck gold. Before that I searched the Mundia website and found two Trees that stated she had died in 1906. I found a death for a Christina Ann (Lena) Gilchrist in 1906. On the NSW BDM I found that Alfred and Helena/Christina had numerous children. A few of the GILCHRIST births were published in SMH and she is recorded as Lena. Alfred marries again at the start of 1907 and in November that same year a week apart his wife died first and later he died. Perhaps her death registration might provide more details.
